Minerals and Waste Local Plan Review Consultation

Minerals and Waste Local Plan Review Consultation

Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) and Peterborough City Council (PCC) are working jointly to prepare a new Minerals and Waste Local Plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to replace the current Plan which was adopted in July 2021. They would like to hear your views on what a new Minerals and Waste Plan should contain and how you wish to be involved with the process.

The current Minerals and Waste Local Plan was adopted by the Councils in July 2021, and it sits alongside the Local Plans prepared by the city and district councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Together, the polices in these plans, and other supporting documents such as masterplans and design guides, are used by the relevant planning authorities to make planning decisions, guiding where future developments should be located.

A Scoping Consultation document and Draft Engagement Strategy have been published on the website, and we would welcome your comments during the consultation period below.

A Call for Sites is being run alongside the Scoping Consultation, and operators and developers are encouraged to submit potential future minerals and waste sites for consideration for inclusion within the new Plan. Comments are also invited on the Proposed Site Assessment & Selection Methodology and the Cross Border Issues Paper.

The public consultation runs from Monday 3 August 2026 to Monday 12 October 2026.
