Local Government reorganisation consultation
Residents and stakeholders across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are being invited to take part in the Government’s consultation on LGR, which will help shape the future delivery of council services across the area.
The statutory consultation is seeking views on the four options submitted by councils across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for LGR. All these submissions would replace the 7 existing local authorities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough with new unitary, or single tier, councils. This would mean residents dealing with a single council responsible for all local government services in their community, rather than services being provided by different councils.
The Government’s statutory consultation is now live and will run from 5 February to 26 March 2026. Members, residents and stakeholder organisations can submit their views online at: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/local-government-reorganisation-in-cambridgeshire-and-peterborough
