Rock Road Library
Redecoration and maintenance works at Rock Road Library that will involve a closure of the service will start from the 5thΒ of May.
The building is due to undergo extensive works including:
- Replacement of roof surface including improved insulation.
- Replacement of the old rooflights with glass finish that aims to restore some of the heritage features to the building.
- Replacement fire doors throughout that are sympathetic to the architecture and fire regulations.
- Redecoration throughout, with new carpet in the main library and walls repainted/restored.
- Updated furniture and layout in the space
The project is primarily being funded by the County Council Property Services maintenance funds with additional funds from the Library Plus project to update equipment in the library.
The Friends of Rock Road Library have successfully fundraised to help restore some of the architectural features during the works and have been able to find alternative home for their work during the project.
The building is due to re-open in July.
