{"id":241,"date":"2025-11-02T18:14:52","date_gmt":"2025-11-02T18:14:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/karenyoung.uk\/uncategorised\/babraham-road-park-ride\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T21:17:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T20:17:57","slug":"babraham-road-park-ride","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karenyoung.uk\/?p=241","title":{"rendered":"Babraham Road Park &#038; Ride"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Babraham Road Park &amp; Ride smart energy grid has been energised.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is now generating renewable energy during daylight hours from a network of solar panels mounted on canopies across the site.<\/p>\n<p>This electricity powers the Park &amp; Ride and the surplus is exported to Addenbrookes through a private wire laid under Babraham Road\/Hills Road.<\/p>\n<p>This is fantastic news after three years of phased construction during which most of the car park remained open to the public at all times.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the several large-energy projects than has been successfully built by the Council and started operating over the past year, together with the St Ives Park &amp; Ride smart energy grid and North Angle Solar Farm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final stage at Babraham Road Park &amp; Ride will be commissioning of the Electric Vehicles (EV) chargers. 35 EV charge points will be available to the P&amp;R users, of which 3 are accessible PAS compliant on disabled parking bays.<\/p>\n<p>Further information on all these schemes is available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk\/residents\/climate-change-energy-and-environment\/climate-change-action\/low-carbon-energy\/large-scale-renewable-energy-and-storage\/triangle-solar-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.
