The Babraham Road Park & Ride smart energy grid has been energised.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It is now generating renewable energy during daylight hours from a network of solar panels mounted on canopies across the site.<\/p>\n

This electricity powers the Park & Ride and the surplus is exported to Addenbrookes through a private wire laid under Babraham Road\/Hills Road.<\/p>\n

This is fantastic news after three years of phased construction during which most of the car park remained open to the public at all times.<\/p>\n

It is one of the several large-energy projects than has been successfully built by the Council and started operating over the past year, together with the St Ives Park & Ride smart energy grid and North Angle Solar Farm. <\/p>\n

The final stage at Babraham Road Park & Ride will be commissioning of the Electric Vehicles (EV) chargers. 35 EV charge points will be available to the P&R users, of which 3 are accessible PAS compliant on disabled parking bays.<\/p>\n
