{"id":229,"date":"2025-09-08T16:25:55","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T15:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/karenyoung.uk\/uncategorised\/funding-for-community-organisations\/"},"modified":"2026-07-05T21:17:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T20:17:57","slug":"funding-for-community-organisations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karenyoung.uk\/?p=229","title":{"rendered":"Funding for community organisations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Applications are now open for a number of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/councilanywhereorg-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/christiane_sampaioribeiro_cambridge_gov_uk\/Documents\/Documents\/Press%20Release\/Communities\/Community%20Grants\/Grants%20and%20funding%20-%20Cambridge%20City%20Council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cambridge City Council\u2019s grants<\/a>, aimed at empowering local charities, volunteer groups, and community organisations. The projects must run in Cambridge between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Every year community grant awards are made to over 80 groups, with funding contributing towards the delivery of a huge range of projects from arts and sports activities; projects that reduce social isolation and improve mental health; to initiatives which helped families manage their household budgets and get access to the financial support they need.<\/p>\n<p>There are three grants now open:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over \u00a35,000 Community Grant Fund \u2013 for projects that reduce social or economic inequality in Cambridge and aligns with one of the following priorities:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>improved social or economic equality<\/li>\n<li>improved general health and wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>an improved sense of belonging<\/li>\n<li>a stronger voluntary sector in the city<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable City Grants \u2013 up to \u00a310,000 for initiatives tackling energy use, waste, emissions, and climate resilience<\/li>\n<li>Homelessness Prevention Grants \u2013 for organisations working to prevent and relieve homelessness and rough sleeping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The deadline for applications is midday on Monday 22 September.<\/p>\n<p>Groups and organisations are strongly encouraged to apply. If you need any support through the process, there is a dedicated team to help.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support with applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year, applicants will be using the council\u2019s new grants portal to apply for grants. The portal will make accessing and completing the application easier for those applying.<\/p>\n<p>To help groups navigate the application process, the council is offering a webinar for applicants on Thursday 7 August from 7pm to 9pm. This webinar will cover the grant programme and will include a walkthrough of the grants portal.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the change in the way applications will be made, both new and previous applicants are encouraged to attend the webinar to familiarise themselves with the grants portal.<\/p>\n<p>Please email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:grants@cambridge.gov.uk\">grants@cambridge.gov.uk<\/a>&nbsp;to book your place. For those that can\u2019t attend, a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/councilanywhereorg-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/christiane_sampaioribeiro_cambridge_gov_uk\/Documents\/Documents\/Press%20Release\/Communities\/Community%20Grants\/Grants%20and%20funding%20-%20Cambridge%20City%20Council\">recording will be made available<\/a>&nbsp;following the webinar.<\/p>\n<p>In-person, bookable appointments will also be available on Wednesday 20 August and Wednesday 3 September for those that would like additional support and advice in completing the application \u2013 please email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:grants@cambridge.gov.uk\">grants@cambridge.gov.uk<\/a>&nbsp;to book a place.<\/p>\n<p>The grants have detailed&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.gov.uk\/grants-and-funding\">eligibility criteria<\/a>.
