Addenbookes roundabout works 3
Work is continuing to improve safety for all road users at Addenbrooke’s roundabout.
Last week, the site team worked specifically on two tasks. They prepared for the installation and commissioning of upgraded traffic signals which involved the fitting of new ducts and sockets while they continued to widen the carriageway by shrinking the central island.
This week, the team will be installing permanent poles for the new signals; the temporary traffic lights will remain on site until 11 June, when they will be fully decommissioned and removed. The permanent traffic lights will be switched back on the same day.
The team will also continue work on widening the carriageway.
We are pleased that the programme remains on target to be completed within the allotted eight weeks.
Also in response to a question I can confirm all traffic management equipment is removed during daylight hours, with the exception of cones on the newly-widened carriageway area. This does not impede the flow of traffic but protects the area the site team has worked on to date.
