With just over a month of construction to go, improvements continue at Addenbrooke’s roundabout.
Works to install ducting for fibre network cables are progressing and will go through the bus station entrance. To minimise disruption and in agreement with Cambridgeshire County Council, works here will be carried out after the final bus service each night.
Carriageway preparation is on schedule, with surfacing due to begin once the required Temporary Traffic Regulation Order takes effect on 13 October. As part of this, Fendon Road will be closed overnight (8pm–6am) for the week while the roundabout is fully resurfaced and re-lined. Emergency services access will be maintained throughout, and the road will reopen each morning. Resident access will be via staffed access points at each end of the closure. Fendon Road residents will be notified of the closure and diversion route through a letter drop in the coming days.
The October programme of works includes planing, asphalt surfacing, coloured cycle box re-surfacing and final lining. The scope has been extended to resurface the entire roundabout, reducing the risk of potholes and future maintenance needs.
Permanent traffic signals will be installed following the resurfacing.
