Over the last week, there’s been significant progress at the section of the roundabout between the Fendon Road arm and the Hills Road arm leading into the city, vegetation is being cleared and kerbs are being removed in this area. The temporary traffic signals remain in place so traffic flows during this stage of the works while the existing permanent signal poles have been covered to prevent confusion while they’re not in use. The site team has also installed signage along the inner ring of the roundabout. To confirm this section remains closed and a clearly marked pedestrian diversion is in place.
On 24 July, working with CamCycle, the memorial bike was removed from the railings near Addenbrooke’s bus station and relocated temporarily further away from the road. Once our work to the roundabout has been completed the memorial bike will be moved to a permanent location.
This week, the site team is continuing to install new kerb lines and drainage systems. They’re also working on ducting as part of Cambridgeshire County Council’s ‘dig once’ policy and installing tactile paving and edging.
