Addenbrooks roundabout works 8

This is the latest update.

The site team has successfully completed phase 1 by resurfacing the widened inner lane of the roundabout and putting barriers around it for safety purposes. The central island has been landscaped and there have been no issues with the temporary signals, which will remain to manage traffic flow during the second phase of the works.

Ahead of phase 2 works beginning, we’ve been in touch with CamCycle and will be working with them, and colleagues at Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Addenbrooke’s hospital, to make sure that the memorial bike is removed and relocated sensitively for the duration of the works.

This week, the team will be working on the section of the roundabout between the Fendon Road and the Hills Road arm leading into the city. There will be a CCTV drainage survey, white lines will be marked on the road and traffic signals will be relocated on that part of the roundabout. During these works, the pavement will be closed so there will be a diversion for pedestrians to cross Hills Road or Fendon Road and walk around the roundabout.

The phase 2 works are due to last for around 15 weeks. Running the second stage of works directly after phase 1 means that we can progress the important safety works to the roundabout more quickly.  However, we appreciate starting phase 2 earlier than planned means there is no break in the overnight works for those living close to the roundabout, and we thank everyone for your continued patience.
