Addenbrookes roundabout works 7
Since a slot opened up on the roads, phase 2 will now follow on directly from phase 1, without a break.
Last week, the team completed resurfacing the widened inner lane of the roundabout so traffic can use it whilst the second phase of work is underway. The temporary traffic signals remain in place to manage traffic flow and will be used in phase 2 as planned.
Over the coming weeks, the second stage will include work to prepare for the traffic islands at the Fendon Road arm and the A1307 arm that leads out of the city to be removed. Once they’ve been taken out, white lines will be marked to align with the new layout of the roundabout.
These works will take place overnight and the team will try to keep disruption to a minimum as much as possible. The nature of the work does however mean that there will be some unavoidable noise.
The team has been in touch with CamCycle about the memorial bike and are making plans for its safe removal and temporary relocation whilst the second stage of works takes place.
