The bulk of the work to refurbish the tennis courts on the recreation ground has now been completed (1 week early) which is great news. The nets are now up and temporary lines marked so people can enjoy the courts over the next few months. The courts will be painted the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) colours of blue and green in the spring. This is due to the paint not taking well this time of year whilst it is so cold.
People wanting to use the courts are able to do by walking on the courts to play. The booking system is not currently working properly and is being restored and should be up and running by the end of this week.
Next steps for the site now to clear it up are to reinstate the iron fencing to the site and re-tarmac the path that has been cracked under the weight of the lorries etc. This work will be done next week and hopefully leave the area in good shape. The grass will be left to recover over the winter period and will be back to how it should come the spring.
Please use the courts and feedback any issues. It is always good to hear from people about how the courts are playing. As for the booking system (once working), if people haven’t seen the link anywhere in advance, there is a link and QR code on the gate to use that will take you to the booking page straight away. It is very simple to use and gives the council good insight as to how popular the courts are at the site.
